As we reflect on the life and legacy of Andrew “Andy” R. Hovanes, one of the former owners of Andy’s Towing, our hearts are filled with a blend of sadness and pride. This week, we paid tribute to a man who was not just a business owner but a true pillar of our community. Andy’s final ride on Monday was not just a procession; it was a testament to the impact he had on all of us here at Andy’s Towing and beyond.
Andy’s Enduring Impact
Andy, along with his brothers Jerry and Steve, operated Andy’s Towing in St. Cloud until 2006. Under their stewardship, the business grew, but more importantly, it embodied values of service and dedication. Andy was a respected member of the Minnesota Towing Association, Wisconsin and Iowa Towing Associations, and took immense pride in being part of the Towing Hall of Fame. His commitment to service was evident in his long-standing involvement with the Sauk Rapids Fire Department, where he served in various roles, including Chief, for many years.
A Community’s Heartfelt Goodbye
On Monday, as a fitting farewell, tow truck operators from across the area and state gathered to honor Andy. The sight of numerous tow trucks in Central Minnesota was not just a mark of respect; it was a symbol of the unity and brotherhood that Andy always fostered in our community. His spirit of camaraderie and collaboration has been a guiding light for us at Andy’s Towing.

Andy’s Towing, a business that has stood strong for over 75 years and now boasts more than 40 trucks in its fleet, owes much of its ethos to Andy’s vision. Located on Lincoln Ave in St. Cloud, we have always strived to reflect the values that Andy held dear—reliability, excellence in service, and a deep connection to the community.

The overwhelming response on social media by residents wondering about the numerous tow trucks in the area was a heartwarming reminder of Andy’s widespread influence. He wasn’t just a business owner; he was a friend, a mentor, and a leader. He touched many lives, both through his professional work and his relentless community service.
